Saskatchewan Gold
Using a variety of references, this scene emerges after a day of strong winds flowing through the gold soakedcanola across the Canadian prairies. Using Cadmium and Lemon Yellow Hues mixed with Yellow Ochre, I useda stiple technique to capture the infinite detail that is Canola coupled with complimentary Sap Green and Burnt Umbermiddleground tones that slices the mid-section of the composition to help create depth.
Coupled with the bold colourjuxtaposing bright canola against a dramatic rich sky, the winding road finishes the scene as it draws the eye from foregroundback, traversing each of the three canvases that make up my first commissioned triptych. This was truly a stretch dream project that I learned so much from and one that I will always cherish.
